What Digital Twin really is
True simulation uses live control software to which physical representations are linked. That has significant advantages: software development, physical and virtual evolution, and early-stage validation can all occur together. The modular approach aids this even further — simulations at different scales can be linked to form larger site/factory production stress tests. To me, that is what Digital Twin is: not a scale of complexity, but a journey from design, to build, to operation, to continuous improvement and future adaptation.
Reconfigure without stopping
Modules and stations can run in a duty-standby or product-change configuration without changing the operational status of the machine — a size change, a product-type change, or a trial run for marketing. Because each module can be pre-validated, many different configurations of primary and secondary packaging can be realised in a short period of time, with minimal disruption.
